Happy New Year to everyone!!  I apologize for such a lapse between posts!  It was "that time of year," but we're back and better than ever!  Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity towards our classes during the holiday party and towards us!  We couldn't be more fortunate and grateful for being allowed to do what we do!

This week, we've begun our poetry unit.  This is always a favorite. We have been reading and learning about the difference between poetry and prose, rhyme, meter, and figurative language. Students have also been learning about different types of poems and writing their own acrostics and cinquains. We will continue this unit for a few weeks with other types of poetry. Students will be compiling their poems into an individual poetry book as a culminating activity.

Don't forget that next week is filled with early release days.  Students will be dismissed at 1:40pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Friday is a teacher workday, and then the following Monday is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Have a phenomenal week!!
